Facebook since it began, has been a popular platform for sharing pictures and that’s where the act of “tagging” a friend was introduced. Tagging a friend is when someone who views or uploads the album can mark a photo to let people know who is in the photo. The tagged photos then appear on each of the person’s profiles that appear in the picture. This action allows it to be viewed by each person’s network of friends. Facebook had a lot of glitches with its initial photo uploading system and they have been testing a new system to improve the photo sharing experience. The new system is much faster and allows users to view a thumbnail of pictures available for uploading from their computer.

I was able to test out the new photo uploading system on Facebook and I found it to be a much easier and convenient experience. Though the only drawback I did find is that they still have not given users access to change the order in which albums are displayed. Currently albums appear in the order in which they are created or updated. Me personally I like to organize my albums by date and year. If I decide to add more pictures to an album I created in 2005, after it’s been updated the album will appear first instead of back with my other 2005 albums. I think allowing Facebook users to organize the order of photographs in each album as well as organizing the albums in which they appear is a much needed feature.
